The Town of Richmond Board of Ethics was established under N.Y. General Municipal Law Article 18, and Section 806.2(b) Code of Ethics, Municipalities.

The Board of Ethics functions in a confidential advisory capacity to the Town Board, based on the Town of Richmond Code of Ethics Policy. Richmond's Board of Ethics, also referred to as the Ethics Committee, is empowered to evaluate ethical questions and concerns submitted by town employees and elected officials; it does not evaluate complaints submitted by members of the general public.

For community members who have a potential ethical concern, the Ethics Committee has developed a list of Ethics Resources for Residents.
