Community Events

Posting policy: The Town of Richmond accepts submissions for events that are organized and hosted through a nonprofit organization or governmental entity; and which take place in the Town of Richmond, or relate to services and resources that directly impact residents. To submit a posting, email our Webmaster with all information listed in the format below. Submissions must be made at least 7 days in advance of the event.

 

 

 

Saturday, April 22nd - 7 AM to 3 PM

 
Ontario County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
 

RecycleTime for spring cleaning! At this free event, Ontario County residents can discard of household hazardous waste (any household material that can be classified as toxic, corrosive, flammable or reactive). Examples: Acids or bases, automotive products, batteries, cleaning products, pains, pesticides and thinners. Pre-registration and proof of residency are required, and the event is limited to the first 800 residents who register. Download a full list of materials accepted at this event.

 

Location: Ontario County Landfill / Casella Recycling Facility, Routes 5&20 (between Canandaigua and Geneva). To pre-register for a 15-minute dropoff time , contact the Cornell Cooperative Extension at (585) 394-3977, extn. 427. Deadline for pre-registration is 3:30 pm on Thursday, April 20th, 2017.

Honeoye Valley Association Annual Roadside Cleanup
 

Roadside PickupThis Earth Day, join the Honeoye Valley Association for its 23rd annual roadside cleanup. Last year, participants collected over 800 pounds of trash. Let's beat that! Start at the United Church of Christ for a free breakfast, served from 7 to 9 am. Trash bags, safety vests and road section assignments* will be handed out in the UCC parking lot from 7:30 to 9 am. All trash collected will be accepted behind the Richmond Town Hall.

 

Location: Meet at United Church of Christ, 8758 Main Street, Honeoye NY 14471. Trash dropoff at the Richmond Town Hall, 8690 Main Street, Honeoye NY 14471.

Honeoye Inlet Restoration Project Planting Event
 

Planting [Square]Come and see the new stream channel created to help reduce sediment and pollutants from entering Honeoye Lake. We will be planting trees and shrubs provided through the NYS DEC Trees 4 Tribs program. Planting these native flora will help improve wildlife habitat and stabilize the newly constructed stream channel. Please be prepared to get muddy! Dress for the weather. Boots, gloves and shovels are recommended.

 

Location: County Road 36, Honeoye NY 14471. Meet at the entrance to the DEC Wildlife Management Area, two miles south of Muller Field Station. Sponsored by the Ontario County Office for the Aging, this program invites seniors 60 years of age or older to come together for a delicious, nutritious meal and friendly conversation. Meals are available at no charge for seniors (a suggested donation of $3.50 covers the cost of the meal). Meal reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Ontario County SWCD Fish Stocking Program
A well-stocked pond can provide many recreational opportunities for your family. The Ontario County SWCD fish stocking program provides suitable species at a reasonable cost. Fish stocking sales are held each year in September and May; visit the OCSWCD's fish stocking page in early September or early April to place your order.
 
Note: The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation requires a farm fish pond license. See the DEC Farm Fish Pond License Application form.

American Red Cross Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Opportunities

 

In partnership with New York State, the American Red Cross is offering free Citizen Preparedness Corps training sessions titled "Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes." Presentations can be scheduled any time and in nearly any setting.
