Refreshments and conversation at 5:30 pm, with a discussion of Defending Jacob beginning at 6 pm. William Landay's legal thriller hinges on two types of suspense, courtroom drama and issues causing family implosion. Leader: Cynthia Goetzmann. Dessert: Barbara Platner.

Birds of the Southern Honeoye Valley
 

Join Sasha MacKenzie to learn more. For nature lovers that are early risers, this morning walk along the field station’s hiking trails will fascinate you with sightings of brightly colored songbirds in their breeding plumage. You will also learn details about bird ecology including their use of natural habitats and artificial nest boxes. Some binoculars can be borrowed from the field station but, if you have your own, please bring them with you.  Limit: 15 people.

 

This event is free, but reservations are required - call or email to hold your space.

Channel Paddle through the Honeoye Inlet
 

Join Nadia Harvieux, Environmental Outreach Educator at Muller Field Station, to canoe or kayak through the beautiful Honeoye Inlet wetlands and learn about their importance for water quality protection and wildlife habitat. We will  look for sign of wetland mammals, including beaver, muskrat and river otter. Some college boats can be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own. Limit: 12 people - make your reservations early.

Also learn about wildlife and wetland plant indicators. Some college boats can be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own. Limit: 12 people - make your reservations early.

Ontario County SWCD Fish Stocking Program
A well-stocked pond can provide many recreational opportunities for your family. The Ontario County SWCD fish stocking program provides suitable species at a reasonable cost. Fish stocking sales are held each year in September and May; visit the OCSWCD's fish stocking page in early September or early April to place your order.
 
Note: The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation requires a farm fish pond license. See the DEC Farm Fish Pond License Application form.

American Red Cross Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Opportunities

 

In partnership with New York State, the American Red Cross is offering free Citizen Preparedness Corps training sessions titled "Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes." Presentations can be scheduled any time and in nearly any setting.
