Medication Dropoff: Dispose of Your Unwanted Pharmaceuticals
 

PillsDrop off outdated, unwanted or unusable medications for incineration. Safely disposing of these pharmaceuticals helps to prevent abuse, and protect the environment.

 

Sponsored by The Partnership for Ontario County, the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, Ontario County Public Health, the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, Honeoye Lake Rotary and other local partners.

Brownstone Book Open House at Allens Hill Free Library

 

ReadAllens Hill Free Library recently received the generous gift of 100 new children's books from the Brownstone Book Fund! Come to the library to see our new books and enjoy some homemade goodies. While you're there, visit with the worms in our composting bin and take a peek at our herb garden in progress.

3rd Annual Richmond Fire Department Carnival
 

FireworksIt's 3 days of fun and excitement! See fire trucks, ambulances, marching bands and color guards from all over the area at the Firemen's Parade on Friday, May 26th at 7 pm. Hear live music from local bands playing some of your favorite hits, and enjoy a HUGE firework demonstration at 10 pm on Saturday, May 27th.

Rides and concessions by Playland Amusement will be open from 6 to 10:30 pm on Thursday and Friday, and from noon to 10:30 pm on Saturday. Admission to the carnival is free; ride tickets start at $20 for 20 tickets. Purchase $20 bracelets for unlimited rides on Saturday from 1 to 4 pm. Learn more.

We will have a different set of robots each month. Meetings to be held the last Saturday of the month, starting at 1 pm. Ages 5 and up welcome.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers: A Class for Family Caregivers
 

These FREE classes are designed to provide caregivers with self-care tools. Learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings, balance your life and locate helpful resources. Whether you are helping a parent, spouse, friend or someone else who lives at home, in a nursing home or across the country, you can benefit from this course. Classes meet one time per week for six weeks. Registration is required and limited.

Harriet Hollister Spencer ParkEnjoy the lake? Worried about its future? Join the Honeoye Valley Association for an informational session with guest speakers. Hear about invasive species that affect our lake and watershed; get an update on the Weed Harvesting program; and learn about a recently completed lake restoration project. Sponsored by the Ontario County Office for the Aging, this program invites seniors 60 years of age or older to come together for a delicious, nutritious meal and friendly conversation. Meals are available at no charge for seniors (a suggested donation of $3.50 covers the cost of the meal). Meal reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Learn more.

Ontario County SWCD Fish Stocking Program
A well-stocked pond can provide many recreational opportunities for your family. The Ontario County SWCD fish stocking program provides suitable species at a reasonable cost. Fish stocking sales are held each year in September and May; visit the OCSWCD's fish stocking page in early September or early April to place your order.
 
Note: The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation requires a farm fish pond license. See the DEC Farm Fish Pond License Application form.

American Red Cross Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Opportunities

 

In partnership with New York State, the American Red Cross is offering free Citizen Preparedness Corps training sessions titled "Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes." Presentations can be scheduled any time and in nearly any setting.
