This class will cover the basics of caring for dairy goats, including feed, fencing, health care, breeding and milking. A dairy doe will be present, and milking will be demonstrated.

Tackle the knit and purl stitches and begin work on a simple pair of wrist warmers – perfect for cool autumn days. Participants can use donated yarn and the library's knitting needles; no need to bring anything. Free and open to ages 10 and up.

Let's celebrate the beautiful fall weather and our wonderful Allens Hill Free Library community. We will have hot dogs, snacks, drinks, crafts and games for both children and adults. Bob for a marshmallow, make a custom button or badge, try needle felting, and/or bowl with a pumpkin. There will be something for everyone!

Shopper Awareness & Retail Theft

 
Join the Canandaigua Police Department and Wegmans Security team for a discussion on shopper awareness and retail theft. Hosted by the SALT Council (Seniors And Lawmen Together – a committee of local senior cititzens and representatives from the Ontario County Sheriff's Department, the Canandaigua Police Department, Quail Summit and the Ontario County Office for the Aging who educate the community on senior health and safety issues.

Sponsored by the Ontario County Office for the Aging, this program invites seniors 60 years of age or older to come together for a delicious, nutritious meal and friendly conversation. Meals are available at no charge for seniors (a suggested donation of $3.50 covers the cost of the meal). Meal reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Learn more.

Ontario County SWCD Fish Stocking Program
A well-stocked pond can provide many recreational opportunities for your family. The Ontario County SWCD fish stocking program provides suitable species at a reasonable cost. Fish stocking sales are held each year in September and May; visit the OCSWCD's fish stocking page in early September or early April to place your order.
 
Note: The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation requires a farm fish pond license. See the DEC Farm Fish Pond License Application form.

In partnership with New York State, the American Red Cross is offering free Citizen Preparedness Corps training sessions titled "Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes." Presentations can be scheduled any time and in nearly any setting.
